The Waukesha County Health Department Urges its population to test and mitigate high radon levels.

The department displays a table to give results to 48,000 short-term lowest level/basement radon measuring results Waukesha county and Wisconsin homes, which it lists from county and its zip codes.

These are lowest level/basement result readings.  U.S. EPA suggests to test the lowest levels (livable) of homes, which are not a normal basement. EPA guidelines is 4 pCi/L exposure to radon, which is determined by yearly average main living floor measurements.

Estimating the percentage of Waukesha County homes in these particular zip codes which are evaluated above the guidelines of EPA, as primary level living space, can be determined as per floor year, with an average radon level.

Research shows homes in Waukesha County are more prone to contain higher levels of radon. Tests determine the following data:

~ 34% of homes testing under 2 pCi/L.

~ 18% of homes testing between 2 and 3.9 pCi/L.

~ 48% of homes testing above 4 pCi/L.

This type of data determines the more likelihood that elevated radon levels exist in the area. It is recommended that homeowners test the lowest level of their homes in Waukesha County, since these statistics are drastically higher than many other Wisconsin areas.
